The Barrington Park District's Par Three Course

The first hole - 150 yards, 90 degree dog-leg left.  Ideal tee shot goes 100-110.  Difficult second shot must be kept low enough to avoid the high tree branches both right and left, and yet, firmly enough to roll on the green when the ground is soft (as in the morning after the course is watered) or firmly enough to hold should you choose to land it on.  Players taking alternative short cuts invariably score 5 or 6.

A much better hole (MUCH easier, also) goes from the first tee to the 2nd green, 175 yards, with the green nicely framed by the two tall trees in the back ground.

Walking up one, looking West towards the 4th tee near the building in the background.  The 4th hole is a perky 195-yard par three, craftily guarded by a bunker right-center, but with a simple alley way funnel to the pin should the player correctly play center left or left of the green.  This is a hole that for some reason, I birdie more than all the others.  Probably because I never expect to.

The incurably difficult 3rd hole is 225 yards long and runs along the fence in the back ground.  The key to playing the hole is to aim at the trash can by the bench on the 4th tee.  This takes all scores higher than 4 out of play.

This is your approach to the first hole.  60-70 yards that require a firmly hit shot; no equivocation.

The magnificent third hold.  Note high trees left, and bothersome trees right.  Stay DOWN on your tee shot.  Anything pussilanimous will be lucky to make bogey (4).

Veni, vidi, vici - Perfect landing zone of 3rd hole, looking back towards tee.

Not shown are any photos of the 2nd or the 5th holes - 125 and 137 yard par 3s.  Both are straightforward, but there is a tendency to pull off the shot, the player worried about having too much club in hand.  Don't worry. You don't.
