Roger Clemens pitched a lot better than he caddies
With the PGA Tour in Texas this week, it's only right that one of Texas's more famous pro athletes might show up to check out the action. And former ballplayer/would-be-Hall-of-Famer-were-it-not-for-one-little-thing Roger Clemens did more than watch the goings-on at Wednesday's pro-am; he caddied forRyan Palmer.
As part of the Caddy for a Cure program, Clemens hauled the bag for Palmer and, well, didn't exactly tear it up out there. Palmer noted that Clemens pulled the wrong club from the bag three times and forgot to wash the ball on at least one instance. Whoops.
"We played together at the (Bob) Hope," Palmer said afterward. "He's a fun guy to be around. But we did have to give him a hard time."
So maybe Clemens doesn't have a future as a caddy. But hey, Palmer should count his lucky stars -- at least Clemens didn't serve up the clubs the way he served up that bat to Mike Piazza back in the 2000 World Series.
