So in an attempt to inject a bit more life and interest into these early season tournaments, and because we're both inveterate gamblers who are one bad card from being out on the streets, Shane Bacon and I are playing a golf version of a football suicide pool: We each pick one golfer per tournament and see how they do against each other, straight up. Victory over the other guy gets one point, victory in the tournament gets three points. And when we burn a golfer, he's done for the year. This week: the Shell Houston Open!

Bacon: Haha! See, I knew going with Mr. Woods would pay off. Sure, he didn't win, but does he ever anymore? But this week I'm going with someone that was actually in the hunt at Bay Hill. That would be young Spencer Levin, who seems to be in the hunt weekly in 2011. He stumbled last Sunday, but at this point, a top-10 machine is good enough to overtake Busbee!
Busbee: As we'll see, simply making the cut is enough to beat me right now, dammit. Anyway, I'm going to emulate your philosophy and take another guy who'll be in it to win it, Mr. Jhonattan Vegas. It's kind of like a home track to Vegas, who attended college in Texas, and if nothing else I'll have him hide Levin's clubs.
Last Week: Bacon's all-in pick of Tiger Woods fell off the pace on Sunday, but at least he was playing on Sunday; Busbee's pick of Webb Simpson was watching Bay Hill from the same perspective as the rest of us ... the couch, after missing the cut. A Simpson cutting and running? That never happens!
Overall Record: Bacon 8, Busbee 6
